Voters
Want Child Care Supports for Low-Income Famlies
According
to a national telephone survey among registered voters on welfare
issues relevant to Congress' consideration of welfare reauthorization:
-
71% of voters feel that expanding work supports to TANF recipients,
such as child care subsidies, is a higher priority than establishing
tougher work requirements; 86% of voters feel that expanding work
supports is a higher priority than programs that encourage marriage.
-
82% of voters support increasing federal funding for work supports
for TANF recipients, such as job training, child care, and other
welfare-to-work programs.
