Early Childhood Teachers Willing to Work to Fight Abuse and Neglect

A recent NAEYC national survey found that 97% of early childhood educators want to join efforts to help families prevent child abuse and neglect, and that 77% felt it was their professional responsibility not just to report it, but to do whatever they can to prevent child abuse and neglect.

In addition,

  • 85% believe that giving families support on promoting the social and emotional development and early learning of their children will help to prevent child abuse and neglect
  • 83% believe that a key step for NAEYC to take in the prevention of harm to children is to provide specific training around recognizing children at risk of abuse because of challenging behaviors or family problems.
